Inspiring Engagement - Realising Potential

We currently have 6 classes within the Junior Syndicate at CASS, which largely operate at satellite classes located in nearby mainstream host schools.

There are two classes at each of our St Andrews Rd Site (StAR) and Dominion Road Primary School as well as one at Oranga Primary and one at Wesley Primary.

Satellite classes provide our students with regular opportunities to integrate with their mainstream peers, both academically and socially.  These experiences enrich your child’s learning, communication and social development.

Learning

We are guided by the New Zealand Curriculum, which forms the basis for our learning programmes. Teachers provide students with rich and meaningful learning experiences across all curriculum areas through our topic based inquiry framework. The framework allows students to focus on a different topic each term, keeping learning fresh and engaging. There are also daily learning opportunities focused specifically on developing and extending early literacy and numeracy skills.

We are fortunate to have access to an array of digital technologies across the school. Computers, iPads and interactive whiteboards are used in our classes to promote engagement and enhance student learning opportunities.

Teachers and Therapists ensure that individual learning and sensory needs of the students are met by employing a variety of evidenced based pedagogical approaches, programmes and tools within their teaching.
