Inspiring Engagement - Realising Potential

A group for children who have a physical disability and their families and whanau

Based at the St Andrews Rd site of C.A.S.S. (261 St Andrews Rd, Three Kings), the Parent and Child Group offers therapy based play for children aged between 0—5.  It is run by a Physiotherapist, an Occupational Therapist and a Speech Language Therapist.

  • Parents attend with their babies, toddlers or pre-schoolers and participate in a group session.
  • The group focuses on handling and movement for children, working to develop gross motor, fine motor, sensory, communication and social skills.
  • Parents practice the handling skills that help their child develop functional movement and language.
  • Parents are invited to shared coffee or tea after the structured component of the session. This is a valuable opportunity for parents, caregivers and whanau of children with disabilities to meet and develop support networks with other families in similar circumstances.
  • This programme is additional to any community based services and therapists are welcome to attend with the children under their care.
